About Us
How We’re Different
The Alzheimers Aid Society of Northern California is one of the only Alzheimers organizations in Northern California where your total contribution dollars remain within the state to help Alzheimers families. Donations provide a variety of services directly to local recipients, where other Alzheimers organizations’ fundraising revenue is distributed proportionally at a national level.
Established in 1981, the Alzheimers Aid Society of Northern California has three sites with offices located at:
Bea Gorman’s life story about living with familial Alzheimers.
What We Do
The organization has grown to over 15,000 members from a meager beginning of two diagnosed Alzheimers cases. Bimonthly newsletters and a multitude of direct services, including distribution of free information packets, in-service training, workshops, home visits and 24-hour one-on-one phone call availability are supported through donations. Manned by volunteers, almost 9,000 support service hours annually have been logged to fight the battle against Alzheimers.
The Alzheimers Aid Society of Northern California is totally service-oriented, as opposed to other Alzheimers organizations that concentrate on fundraising. We put your donation dollars back into the local community by providing friends and neighbors with direct support services, i.e. educational materials and distribution of a multitude of supplies Alzheimers patients need on a daily basis in addition to home visits and providing respite for caregivers. Contributions also keep the Alzheimers hotline in operation 24 hours a day. With five to seven new Alzheimers cases diagnosed daily contacting our office, our needs continue to grow. A non-profit service organization, we rely on community support and individual contributions to keep services constant to those who need them the most, our neighbors in Northern California.
